Katie Has To Keep Silent during Labor

As Seen at Pleasant Morning Buzz:

In anticipation of Katie Holmes going into labor, scientology elders delivered a big stack of Scientology posters to Tom Cruise's mansion. The posters remind Katie not to make a peep during labor: she has to be totally silent. And not talk to her baby for 7 days. And not allow him to have medical tests for 7 days. And...well, you get the idea.

Tom Cruise's pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes will be reminded to keep her vow of silence during birth - by signs plastered around their home. The couple - following the Scientology tradition of a silent birth - had the posters delivered to their Beverly Hills mansion. The 6ft placards will be placed so Katie can see them in labour. One reads: "Be silent and make all physical movements slow and understandable." Dawson's Creek actress Katie, 26, must "keep mum" and will not even be allowed painkillers when she has the couple's first child due any day.

Friends - believed to be Scientology elders - were pictured carrying the huge white boards through the gates. The "birthing boards" will also tell staff and visitors to stay silent. Followers believe it is traumatic for babies to hear their mother scream or groan when giving birth. They think it can cause "psychic" damage, which takes years of therapy to overcome.

Personally, I say that she builds up a gigantic, billowing, primal SCREAM that lets those Scientololgists know who's boss in that room. The woman in labor.

Not talking to your newborn baby for 7 days??? Are you kidding me???

I truely hope this is not true and she does scream if (and we all know it is) she has to scream. How else is she pushing that baby out without meds? As for not being near the baby for 7 days, get real, there would be no way you'd stop me. Right? Wonder if they really mean no public will be near the child? It's all becoming a bit too strange for me.

If it is true that children hearing their mother's groan and screams cause damage, well, I would assume that there are billions and billions of children that are damaged!

Yeah, I hope she screams, and that it brings about an understanding between them that Tom's Scientology cannot rule over Katie and her life.

Does it sound cultish to you as much as it sounds like one to me?

Let's see, secretive documents and rules, being drawn away from family and former friends (and replaced with members of the Scientology church), not being allowed to talk about what it truly means to be a part of the church and grow in its teachings, and -- of course -- not being allowed to speak to your newborn baby for a week after birth (not to mention the whole screaming during birth thing).
